Shane Takeshi Kaneshiro
McKinley High School
My name is Shane Kaneshiro, Class of 2024. I am diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder specifically, Asperger’s Syndrome. With support, I’ve learned to overcome my rigidness and learned to cope with my anxieties. I struggled with academics, but with perseverance and effort, I was rescinded from Special Education during my eighth grade year. I had to accept the challenge and register for Newswriting because of my mother's directive. It was a major battle for me to curb the procrastination. I had to face the feedback and edit my articles. The deadlines quickly approached. I had an obligation to publish my articles in our school newspaper, The Pinion, and maintain The Pride and Tradition of a Tiger.
